Amendoeira Golf Resort is located in the western region of the Algarve, close to Silves, 5km from the coast. It occupies a wide valley, including both slopes. The resort golf facilities include two championship golf courses, by Faldo Design and Christy O’Connor, an extensive academy and training facilities, and a 9-hole par 3 course.
CampoReal Golfe & Natureza Resort is located in the western coastal region of Portugal, forty minutes North of Lisbon. It occupies an area with steep hills and deep valleys. This is small farms country, with vineyards and fruit groves mixed with forestry areas in the steeper slopes. The course was designed by Donald Steel, with Senior Designer Martin Ebert, and opened in 2005. The resort golf facilities include a par 72, 6,000 meters, championship course and an extensive academy and training facilities. CampoReal did host the 2010 and 2011 editions of the PGA Ladies European Tour.
Onyria Palmares Beach & Golf Resort is located in the western region of the Algarve, close to Lagos. It occupies an extremely varied piece of land, going from the beach in the south (the only true links in the Algarve), to farmland with mountain views in the north, to natural valleys falling to the Ria de Alvor wetlands in the east.
The original golf course, designed by Frank Pennink, was opened in 1975. The course was showing its age and the problems caused by several owners and relative neglect. Recently, Onyria Golf Resorts bought the property and decided to rebuilt it, with a new 27 hole course, in 3 returning 9’s loops. This job was carried out by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. to a superb result. The architect’s philosophy was to follow the land in order for the golf course to have a minimum impact.
The Vidago Palace golf course is a Cameron & Powell redesign of an original Mackenzie Ross 9, dating back to 1936. Today, the upgraded course meets USGA construction specifications, having been transformed into a standard par 72, retaining the integrity of the original design and faithfully reflecting the aesthetics, playability, spirit and character of the site.
The course is one of dramatic contrasts which are united by a singular respect for the surrounding nature. Pathways and retaining walls use local stone and centuriesold trees have been preserved. The first holes are played in a forested and relatively flat valley floor; the later ones in open expanses with magnificent vistas.
The newly expanded course also includes a golf academy with 340m driving range, chipping area and 2 putting greens.
The small town of Vidago is located in the north of Portugal, in the Douro Valley area. Just 10 miles from Vidago, the medieval town of Chaves dates back to the Romans, whose legacy includes the ruins of a thermal spa. The Vidago aquifer has been explored since the 17th century. Water from Vidago has been bottled since 1886 and can still be tasted direct from the source, in the park surrounding the Vidago Palace hotel. Today, Vidago Water is one of the best known brands in Portugal.
